Website and webshop accessibility

We audit your site against WCAG 2.2 AA with automated and manual testing, then fix the issues in code and templates, not just report them. For webshops, that includes the cart, checkout and payment.

Since 28 June 2025, the European Accessibility Act has applied to webshops and other online contracting interfaces across the EU, unless the provider is a microenterprise. In practice, visitors must be able to complete their task with a keyboard, a screen reader or magnification: find the product, fill in the form and pay. Lorz Kft. in Miskolc, Hungary audits and fixes websites and webshops with its own developers. You get more than a report: we fix what we find in code, templates and content, and help with the documentation.

  1. Accessibility audit

WCAG 2.2 AA evaluation on a representative sample, with automated and manual checks. Screen reader testing is scoped separately; the proposal records the methods and extent of the audit.

  2. Prioritised fix plan

For each issue: where it is, who it blocks, which WCAG criterion it fails and how to fix it, ordered by business impact and effort.

    / 02
  3. Fixes in code and templates

Semantic HTML, heading structure, focus handling, forms, menus, dialogs and contrast. Fixing a shared template issue helps every page using it; individual content still needs checking.

    / 03
  4. Webshop, from cart to payment

Filters, product variants, cart, checkout, error messages, login and the handover to payment, coordinated with your providers.

    / 04
  5. Content and documents

Alt text, links, tables, video captions and downloadable PDFs, either done by us or with rules and examples for your team.

    / 05
  6. Documentation and re-testing

Accessibility information for your terms and re-testing within the agreed scope. Editor training and automated checks in your development workflow are separately agreed tasks.

How we work

How it works

  1. 1

    Quick review

We look at the site, the platform and the main journeys, and tell you what scope makes sense.

  2. 2

    Scope and sample

We choose the page types and complete journeys to test, for example buying from start to payment. The proposal records test methods, deliverables and any separately requested tasks.

  3. 3

    Audit

Automated and manual checks using the agreed methods: keyboard, zoom, contrast and forms. Screen reader testing is arranged separately.

  4. 4

    Report and plan

A clear report with examples. We agree together what goes into the first round.

  5. 5

    Fixes

We fix code and templates. If the platform or payment provider sets limits, we flag them and look for a workaround.

  6. 6

    Re-test and handover

We verify the agreed fixes and hand over the documentation. Editor training and adding automated tests can be requested separately, with an agreed scope.

What drives the cost?

What affects the cost?

We quote after a quick review, itemised separately for the audit and the fixes. These are the main factors:

  1. 01

    Number of templates

Most issues live in templates, so the number of different templates matters more than the number of pages.

  2. 02

    Custom interactive components

Filters, cart, checkout, galleries, maps and dialogs take the most keyboard and screen reader work.

  3. 03

    Technology

Custom code, WordPress or a hosted platform each offer different room for fixes.

  4. 04

    Content volume

Images, product text, PDFs and captions. Easy to schedule, and your team can take on part of it.

  5. 05

    Brand colours

If brand colours do not reach the required contrast, some visual elements need fine-tuning.

  6. 06

    Documentation and process

Accessibility information and technical input for any disproportionate burden assessment. Training and automated tests are scoped separately.

We give a fixed price after the discovery phase, in writing and itemised — we walk through the factors above together in the first, free consultation.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

How much does website accessibility work cost?
It depends less on the number of pages than on how many different templates and custom components you have, the technology behind them and the amount of content. After a quick review we give an itemised quote, separately for the audit and the fixes.
Is accessibility mandatory for my website?
The European Accessibility Act covers e-commerce services for consumers, such as webshops and other online contracting interfaces. Microenterprises providing services are exempt. A purely informational company site is unlikely to be covered, but ask a lawyer about borderline cases.
Why are automated checks not enough?
Automated tools quickly find issues such as missing alt text and low contrast, but the W3C itself points out that they cannot check everything. Whether a checkout works with a keyboard, or an error message is understandable, takes human judgement. We use both.
Is an accessibility widget or plugin enough?
Usually not. An overlay alone does not demonstrate conformance or guarantee that every barrier is removed. Menus, forms and checkout still need to be tested in use. In 2025 the US FTC ordered one such vendor to pay one million dollars over unsupported claims that its product could make any website compliant. We fix problems at the source.
Do you issue a certificate after the audit?
The report is a professional assessment of what we tested, what we found and what improved. It is not an official certificate and does not replace legal advice. We report what can be measured and do not promise full conformance for parts we do not build.
